Jump Rope Workshops!

Beci and Gemma then Travelled across Scotland to Oban where they ran 2 days of workshops on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th February at Oban Primary School Campus.

They worked with every class from Rockfield and St Columbus and on the last day they did a big assembly demonstrating their skills and talking about the sport.

Thanks to the teachers that organised all this, as the trip was a huge success, the schools were lovely, and we hope to see them again!

Visit to Portlethen Skip Hop Team

Training Day inScotland

Beci and Gemma Travelled up to Portlethen, Aberdeen on Saturday 9^th February 2013 to run a Workshop on Sunday 10^th February for the Portlethen Skip Hop club.

The girls worked with the club mainly on how important teamwork is and helped them work towards putting teams together for the next British Rope Skipping Team Championships. They all worked really hard and we were both impressed with their teamwork, ability and determination.

The workshop went really well and the kid’s enthusiasm was very inspiring, we look forward to seeing them at the next team competition if we don’t see you before!!

JUMP ROPE UK FESTIVAL

The Jump Rope UK festival is a great opportunity for all children and adults. It is a celebration of rope skipping within the UK. With an opportunity for your school/team to show off their amazing skipping skills and participate in a workshop taught by the best competitive and demonstration skippers in the UK.

The Jump Rope UK girls which were part of the Group “Get Tricky” who performed at the Olympics would like to share with everyone this statement from “Get Tricky”

Inspire A Generation:

After successfully completing 30 shows in 16 days at the Olympic Games, we would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support throughout this incredible journey. We have all been honored to officially represent the global rope skipping/jump rope community here at the Games for the first time.Despite differences in jumping styles, cultures and backgrounds, our international group was able to work together to produce a demonstration that left crowds, the media and even members of the IOC asking questions and wanting to see more. We have come away with a renewed and genuine belief that rope skipping can and will become an Olympic sport in the near future. Having grown up inspired by the jumpers and coaches who came before us, we now challenge the next generation to elevate the sport to even greater heights.

Washington DC Trip

THE JUMP ROPE UK members have just returned from Washington DC after a very successful World Championship held at the George Washington University.

Rachael from Jump Rope UK was asked to hold two presentations on single rope speed and Double Dutch speed, as well as teaching in the camp, and these presentations will be available on the World Jump Rope website at www.worldjumprope.org.

The trip to America was an amazing experience for all the girls and they are looking forward to going back next year, but this time it will be in Orlando, Florida, so the fund-raising begins now!
